Project Management
Free programs are on the rise for all fields. I decided to concentrate on project management this go around.
The first application is minuteman 7.4a This program allows you to create a project schedule with milestones, make notes on each task, assign individuals responsibility, track expenses, create Gnatt and PERT charts, schedule and budget all within the program. You can also create hard copy's using word and spreadsheet programs. Everything can be sent via email.
For the smaller company try Scadex project tracker 4.1. claims to fame: all things track able including time cards, suppliers, purchases, employees, estimating and it contains a database. Can be exported to Microsoft Project.
Z Planner Agenda 1.0 is all about time-management features include task breakdown and automatic scheduling. This program is more of a home based application.
Mindjet MindManager Pro 7.1- Free to try expensive to buy. This is more of a mind-mapping software. Uses brainstorming as a main component to increase planning. There are a ton of templates to help ease the transition. Used by fortune 500 companies.
Smartworks-projecr reader is ideal for sending information to a client. They can read and access however, they cannot change the information provided. I see many defaults with this however, for the legal professional it maybe great.
Not all software has to be be about projects. I found Methods Project management Assessment- This is an interactive assessment that helps you manage a project, analyzes your answers, keeps score and even gives you recommendations for improvement. It's pretty cool

Your bolg is well written and informative. I did not know this about Minuteman 7.4a. I am a scheduler and use a different producton a shared network on my day job. I will examine this closely.
I'm also interested in using something like Scadex for smaller personal projects, that will enable me to hone my skills as I learn project management and critical path scheduling in support of my career.
Good job!
